Electric 6 String Guitar Setup (Non-Floyd Rose) - $79

What I hear most often is "I want low action and no buzz". That means different things to different players. A bit of unplugged buzz is fine for some players as a compromise for very light strings and very low action. They won't hear that when they plug in and turn it up. For others it is no buzz at all whether plugged in or not. Let me know how you play and I'll do my best to get it dialed in to your playing style. I have a satisfaction guarantee so if I have to tweak it for you I will; on me. I want your guitar to play best for you, not necessarily your best friend or band mate. Once I know what you like, I keep those specs in your file to be sure I setup each of your guitars the way YOU like.

Electric 6 String Guitar Setup With Floyd Rose - $89

If you have a Floyd Rose on your guitar, it's there for a good reason. I'll make sure it is working

at it's best so you can wring as much out of it as possible.

Acoustic 6 String Guitar Setup - $69     (12 String - $84)

You love your acoustic guitar(s) for a reason. You might even have a few and like each one set up a little differently for different styles of playing. Be clear about what you want from each of them and I'll dial each one in the way you like it.

Electric 4 String Bass Guitar Setup - $79  (Add $5 for each additional string)

It seems like each bass likes things a bit different. Pick, finger, slap; the instrument responds differently to each. Let me know what you prefer & I'll work with you to dial it in so you can maximize what you get out of your guitar the way YOU play. Once I know what you like, I keep those specs in your file to be sure I setup each of your guitars the way YOU like.

Nut Replacement (Tusq Nut Included) - $69

Improve your instruments tone and tuning stability while adding clarity and sustain with a premium Tusq nut. It is one of the best improvements that can be made on most instruments. Tusq is a revolutionary synthetic Ivory.

Replace Acoustic Guitar Saddle (Includes Tusq Saddle) - $59

Similar to replacing the nut with Tusq, the effects of this material in the bridge can be even more effective and brightening the tone and clarity of your acoustic guitar. Setting the correct height of the saddle to dial in great action is a must for a well playing guitar.

Fret Dressing - Level, Crown & Polish - $59

Remove imperfections and level the fret tops along the entire fretboard to reduce buzzing and improve playability.

Sharp Fret Ends (Fret Sprout) - $49

No more cut fingers or snagged clothing. File & polish sharp fret ends so they are flush with the edge of the fretboard.

Refretting - Price To Be Determined

Refretting is different for each instrument. Pricing will reflect the condition of the instrument. Is the fretboard bound or not, oiled or finished, heavily gouged or not, etc.

6 String Tuning Head Replacement - Direct Replacement - $39 plus the Tuners

Upgrade your tuning heads or replace worn out tuners. Improve tuning stability and the ability to tune precisely. If tuners are not a direct replacement and drilling is required add $30.

Electronic Repairs or Replacement - Price To Be Determined

Does your instrument need a new output jack?  Most straight forward replacements are $45. Replacing pickups, switches and controls get more varied in the work involved due to the configuration of the instrument. A discussion and inspection is required to make an accurate assessment of what will be involved.

Re-glue Acoustic Flat Top Bridge - $120 (includes a new Tusq saddle)

When a bridge starts to pull away from the top it wreaks havoc on playability as well as impacting the structural integrity of the soundboard. I will restore the sound transfer from the strings to the top and secure the bridge correctly giving back the original playability you remember. If the top has been warped and/or braces have separated from the soundboard additional work and costs will be involved.

Install Acoustic Archtop Bridge - $89 Plus the Cost of the Bridge

Has your archtop bridge been bumped from the original location? Do you want to upgrade the bridge? I've got you covered. I will determine the correct location for intonation, fit the bridge to the arch of the top and adjust the height to set the action for optimum playability.

Partscasters, Kit Builds & Home Builds - Cost to Be Determined

Playing Guitar

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN A SETUP?

1.  I assess the instrument for playability paying specific attention to your concerns. This allows me to develop a game plan for your instrument and how best to adjust it for you.

2. I adjust the truss rod to the appropriate spec. for the instrument and style of play you have given me. This creates a comfortable playing surface, minimizes buzz and brings a smile to your face every time you pick up your guitar.

3. I fine tune the bridge height to optimize the playing action and overall tone.

4. If electric, I use DeoxIT to clean the volume and tone potentiometers and switches to alleviate scratchiness.  I check that everything is tight.  I check to be sure all electronics are working as they should.

5. I check the level of the frets with a fret rocker. This gives me the information I need to determine if I need to contact you regarding leveling frets if needed.  I clean and polish the frets until they are smooth & bright to enhance playability.

6.  I clean and condition the fretboard to preserve the wood or finish and enhance its natural beauty.

7. I install your new strings, stretch them until they stay in tune and tune the guitar to pitch.

8.  I check the tuning machines and lubricate if accessible, adjust and tighten to optimize their function and stability.

9.  I check all fasteners to be sure they are snug and will prevent buzzing of loose components.

10.  I assess and adjust the pickup heights to optimize how they transmit sound and prevent magnetic pull on the strings.

11.  I set and adjust the intonation as accurately as the instrument allows given its bridge type.

12.  I finish cleaning the guitar, started earlier while the strings were off, now that the handling during adjustments is done.

13.  I play the guitar to assess the overall feel, clarity and playability.  If needed, I make micro-adjustments.
